Drunk kills family, including 2 children, after crashing into golf cart in Texas

The man will have to post a $400,000 bond to continue the process in freedom of involuntary manslaughter by intoxication.

Four people have died after a suspected drunk driver crashed into a golf cart in Texas.

Galveston Police Department officers responded to the scene at the intersection of 33rd Street and Avenue R around 11:35 p.m. Saturday and The adult driver of the golf cart was found dead at the scene, police said.

An adult female passenger and two children were transported to the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.where they later died, police said.

Another adult and a child who were in the golf cart were also transported to the hospital and are in critical condition.

Investigators believe the driver of a black Hyundai SUV was traveling eastbound on Avenue R and did not stop.. He then hit the golf cart, which was traveling north, and a black Dodge pickup truck, which was traveling south, police said.

The suspected driver of the truck, Miguel Espinoza, 45, of Rosenberg, Texas, and the passenger in the Hyundai truck suffered minor injuries and were treated and released from the hospital, police said.

Spinoza was charged with four counts of intoxication manslaughter, police said. He is currently being held in the Galveston County Jail, as online records show. He was set on $400,000 bond.

The identities of the victims are pending release until next of kin are notified, police said.
