Cable channel Adult Swim has confirmed it has dropped Rick And Morty co-creator Justin Roiland. Let’s explore Roiland’s net worth in 2023 amid announcements he’ll no longer be part of the cult animated series.
Roiland and Dan Harmon created animated sci-fi sitcom Rick And Morty in 2015. Both main characters, the mad scientist and his grandson, are voiced by Roiland.
The show proved a hit and distributor Adult Swim commissioned another 70 episodes in 2018. Luckily for Rick And Morty fanatics, this means we are “locked in” through to season 10.
Season 6 finished airing in December 2022, with season 7 reportedly well under way. Thankfully, this means the show isn’t going anywhere. Adult Swim confirmed Rick And Morty would continue without Roiland.
Celebrity Net Worth estimates Justin Roiland has a net worth of $4 million.
The majority of Roiland’s net worth likely came from his ties with Rick And Morty. Roiland isn’t just the show’s co-creator, he’s also the voice actor for Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith. Unfortunately, the show’s budget is unknown so we don’t know how much Roiland was paid per episode.
Part of Roiland’s income will also come from his game studio, Squanch Games. The studio recently released High On Life, which quickly became the biggest Game Pass launch of the year, Polygon reports. However, Squanch Games recently released a statement revealing Roiland resigned from his post last week.
The studio assured fans it would keep afloat: “The passionate team at Squanch will keep developing games we know our fans will love while continuing to support and improve High On Life.”
Roiland also co-created and stars in Hulu’s Solar Opposites, a sci-fi sitcom about a family of aliens. Not to forget, he is executive producer on Hulu’s Koala Man, which only recently aired. However, it is currently unclear how Roiland’s status with other animated shows will be affected.
Adult Swim dropped the Rick And Morty co-creator as he prepares to defend himself over charges of domestic violence, as reported by the BBC.
This month, NBC News reported Roiland is facing one felony count of domestic battery with corporal injury, and one felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud, and/or deceit. Roiland has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The allegations come from Roiland’s ex-girlfriend, who he was living with at the time. However, her identity has remained anonymous.
