One of the highest paid NASCAR drivers
American professional stock car racing driver Martin Truex Jr is currently competing in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series with the No. 19 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing.
The two-time NASCAR XFINITY Series champion won his two titles back in 2004 and 2005, finishing second in 2018, when he received the ESPY award for the Best Driver.
Truex Jr has made millions of dollars throughout his career, but speaking to CNBC three years ago, he revealed that he was saving his paychecks, also explaining why this was one of the biggest mistakes he had made as he decided against investing the money he was earning back then.
“I can remember when I was younger, I would get paychecks and I would kind of like let them stack up in my drawer,” Truex said.
“I was so proud of them, I didn’t even want to cash them or put them in the bank.
“My biggest mistake was holding on to them too long, because I was losing out on interest.
“But aside from that, it’s been pretty smooth ever since.”
The 41-year-old driver is the fourth highest-paid NASCAR driver in 2022 after Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick. His annual salary is estimated at almost 10 million euros.
To put it in perspective, the highest paid NASCAR driver, Busch, is earning around 15m euros, while Hamlin’s annual salary is estimated at 12m euros and Harvick is earning just a bit more than Martin Truex Jr.
Truex Jr’s net worth is currently estimated at around 27.5m euros, as apart from his annual salary, the NASCAR driver is also making significant sums from advertisements and endorsements.
